Even though it might seem as though this isn’t anywhere close to being true, but we here at See It Report It think that activism and activists are a dying breed. You would think that with the explosion of social media tweets in support of the young activist Greta Thunberg that activism is alive and well, but we here at See It Report It think the opposite.
Is activism dying out? Are people becoming more passive?
With the rise of social media and media in general broadcasting overwhelming support for a courages speech (like Greta Thunbergs) or an act that one activist does, you would think that everyone is an activist. Sadly the reality is that most people don’t participate in much activism other than leaving a comment on a news story, or retweeting someone elses retweet about somebody third talking about an important issue.
Modern media, social media in general, would have you believe that we are all activists. But in reality a lot of passivism is going on in the world today. Many people chose to not see the issues, not talk about them, and that is a huge problem that we here at See It Report It are trying to fix. We hope you also start becoming part of the solution, instead of part of the issue.
